The most outstanding list of recommended tools for data visualization [Approaching Data Journalism - Episode#2]

Datavisualization tools

I know, if you’re into data visualization, you already know your tools but maybe you don’t know all of them (I’m quite sure about this). As I’m approaching data journalism and digging into data visualization tools, I stumbled upon this huge and compelling list made up by Interactive Things, a design and technology studio based in Zürich, Switzerland.

What can you find in here then:

It includes libraries for plotting data on maps, frameworks for creating charts, graphs and diagrams and tools to simplify the handling of data. Even if you’re not into programming, you’ll find applications that can be used without writing one single line of code. We will keep this list as a living repository and add / remove things as technology develops. We hope this will help you find the best tool for your next job.

Many of this tools are also available on GitHub, a place where coders and programmers share code, and could be affected by the “no longer under active development” status but having all of them on a regularly updated page is great.

You can navigate thumbs by filtering them in services and libraries to create Maps, Charts or simply show data. On the upper-right corner of the window you can filter everything by selecting if you like tools for coder or not. That’s really useful!

There’s nothing left to say but… Keep up the good work guys!

What about you: how many of this services do you use and which one do you like the most? Share your opinion in the comments, or talk with me on Twitter (@the_dandy)
